Hamster races a hit at Grover Beach pet store

Just how fast can a hamster run?

CD’s Pet Emporium in Grover Beach hosted hamster races as part of its 28th anniversary celebration on Saturday.

The party also included a goldfish ping pong toss and a raffle. According to shop owner Dave Denison, the first race Saturday morning drew a large crowd and more than 30 contestants.
