The organization has had 62 percent more adoptions in the last year than in previous years and is incurring more expenses to provide that service. The Petco grant will help about 100 animals receive high-quality care and veterinary treatment while they await permanent adoption, according to a news release.
The grant also will increase the number of animals the shelter can prepare and place for adoption and facilitate more animal transportation and intakes from neighboring shelters.
Woods Humane Society’s Adoption Center is at 875 Oklahoma Ave. in San Luis Obispo and is open from noon to 6 p.m. daily.
