A Paso Robles man was killed Monday in a Monterey County motorcycle-versus-Fed-Ex van collision.
Prior to the collision, Daniel Ward, 44, was riding a 2006 Yamaha motorcycle southbound at around 3:50 p.m. on Nacimiento Lake Drive, south of Jolon Road. Alex Morrison, 23, of Nipomo was driving a 2007 Ford Fed-Ex van northbound when Ward exited a slight right curve in the road and allowed the motorcycle to drift in front of Morrison’s vehicle, according to a CHP news release.
Morrison was unable to avoid Ward’s motorcycle, and the two vehicles collided. Ward — who was wearing a helmet — was ejected from the motorcycle, landed on the west shoulder of the road and sustained fatal injuries.
The van Morrison was driving came to rest against an embankment on the shoulder of the road. The left front of the vehicle sustained major damage.
