The San Luis Obispo County Criminal Justice Administrators Association hosted the non-denominational memorial service in recognition of National Peace Officers Memorial Day at the Faces of Freedom Veterans Memorial.

Before the ceremony, a caravan of county law enforcement agency vehicles paraded southbound on Highway 101 from the Sheriff’s Office substation in Templeton to the memorial on Morro Road.

The five California officers honored were Officer David Nelson of the Bakersfield Police Department; Sgt. Scott Lunger of the Hayward Police Department; Officer Bryan Hanes of the San Bernardino Police Department; Deputy Scott Ballantyne of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office; and Officer Nathan Taylor of the California Highway Patrol.
