The Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter is seeking volunteers and donors to provide evening meals at the center over the next two weeks.
The nonprofit, which provides shelter and services for the homeless, is currently without evening meals for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; as well as the following Monday through Thursday.
The organization relies on volunteers and donations for its evening meal program. Interested parties can help by making a donation to the Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo County at capslo.org/donate. The nonprofit said in a news release that $250 can feed up to 125 people.
Volunteers may also cook a meal or team up with friends or co-workers to donate a cooked meal. Interested volunteers may also bring food to the shelter at 750 Orcutt Road in San Luis Obispo ready to cook or prepare; salad and sandwich fixings, lunch meat, coffee, large cans of tuna, chips, fruit and other similar items are welcome.
Volunteers and donors are asked to contact volunteer coordinator Amanda Bailey at 544-4355, ext. 121, or email@example.com.
