Small earthquake near Parkfield shakes North County

A small earthquake rattled the North County on Tuesday afternoon.

The magnitude 3.8 quake struck just before 4 p.m. and was centered 7.5 miles northwest of Parkfield, about 25 miles north-northeast of Paso Robles, according to a preliminary report from the U.S. Geological Survey.

People in San Miguel, Paso Robles, Atascadero and Templeton reported weak shaking and no damage on the USGS website.
