Bay Area rock band The Mother Hips will headline the fifth annual Central Coast Oyster & Music Festival this summer in Avila Beach.

Named one of the top 10 oyster festivals in the nation by Fox News, the festival will be held noon to 8 p.m. July 9 at Avila Beach Golf Resort.

Highlights include oyster tasting, an oyster-shucking contest and wine, beer and cocktails, plus live painters and performance artists. Events will be held at stages, bars and lounges designed by SpinCycle and Bamboo DNA.

Leading the entertainment lineup is The Mother Hips, led by singer-guitarists Tim Bluhm and Greg Loiacono. Known for its signature “California soul” sound, the band has released nine studio albums since the early 1990s, including “Chronicle Man” in 2014.

Other acts include hip hop-electronic duo Vokab Kompany, Latin soul-funk band The B-Side Players, psychedelic alt-country rockers Dead Feather Moon and folk-rock multi-instrumentalist Trevor Green.

Admission to the Central Coast Oyster & Music Festival is $22, or $10 for children aged 11 to 15. (Kids 10 and under get in free.) For information, call 805-459-0701 or visit http://centralcoastoysterfestival.com.
