Rollover on Highway 101 injures one, halts traffic near Atascadero

One person was injured in a traffic incident involving a black pickup truck on Highway 101 near Atascadero on Monday, though what caused the accident is still unclear.

California Highway Patrol Officer John Ybarra said the pickup truck overturned on the highway near Santa Barbara Road sometime around 2:30 p.m.

A white Kia looks to have also been involved in the incident, though Ybarra said he did not yet know the car’s exact involvement or have a further description of the car.

Ybarra said one person was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo with unknown injuries.

Because the overturned truck was blocking one lane of traffic, the CHP briefly diverted drivers to El Camino Real to bypass the incident area. As of 5 p.m., the lane had been reopened, and normal traffic resumed.
