Country legend Dolly Parton will perform in Paso Robles this fall.
The iconic singer-songwriter will take the stage Sept. 28 at Vina Robles Amphitheatre as part of her Pure & Simple tour.
Over the course of her nearly five-decade career, Parton has released more than 40 studio albums, branching into country, pop, bluegrass and gospel. Her numerous hits include “Jolene,” “I Will Always Love You” and the Academy Award-nominated “9 to 5.”
She’s also enjoyed a successful side career as an actress, appearing in movies such as “Steel Magnolias,” “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” and “Rhinestone.”
The winner of eight Grammy Awards, 10 Country Music Association Awards and seven Academy of Country Music Awards, Parton was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2001.
Parton is touring in support of her upcoming two-disc album “Pure & Simple with Dolly’s Biggest Hits.” It features a mix of new material and familiar favorites. The country star returns to a San Luis Obispo County stage after a lengthy absence; she performed at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles in 1990.
News of the tour coincides with Tuesday’s DVD release of the TV movie “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors,” which was inspired by her impoverished upbringing in rural Tennessee.
Tickets for Parton’s Sept. 28 concert cost $75 to $199 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.
