On Sunday, the San Luis Obispo County Democratic Party will hold caucuses in San Luis Obispo for the party’s national convention, where party members will vote for delegates for U.S. presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
In order to participate, residents must be registered Democrats and reside within the 24th Congressional District, which encompasses San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties, as well as small slice of northern Ventura County.
Winning delegates from both campaigns will pledge to vote for their respective candidates at the Democratic National Convention the week of July 25 in Philadelphia. All eligible candidates have previously applied through the California Democratic Party under rules dictated by each campaign.
Members of the public may register as a Democrat on-site at the local caucuses.
The Clinton campaign will meet at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 639 headquarters at 6363 Edna Road in San Luis Obispo. The Sanders campaign will meet at the Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center Auditorium at 1010 Murray Ave., also in San Luis Obispo.
Members of the SLO County Democratic Party advise interested participants that the SLO Marathon + Half 2016 will be continuing Sunday and that scheduled road closures may cause traffic delays. Information on road closures can be found at www.slomarathon.com/the-races/road-closures.
