Downed Nipomo power line causes outage for hundreds of PG&E customers

A downed power line Thursday morning caused an outage affecting thousands of Nipomo PG&E customers.

About 1,800 customers were without power as of 9:18 a.m., according to PG&E’s online outage map. That number had shrunk to 719 by 10 a.m.

The source of the outage was a downed power line in the 700 block of North Thompson Avenue, according to Cal Fire and PG&E spokesman Tom Cuddy.

Cuddy said the outage is affecting customers along Thompson, between Tefft Street and Los Berros Road.

The cause of the toppled line is currently unknown, Cuddy said, but PG&E is investigating and expects to restore customers’ power by noon.
