Driver extricated from roadside accident near Paso Robles

A person who apparently spent the night trapped in a vehicle after it went over an embankment in a rural area northwest of Paso Robles was rescued Saturday afternoon and taken to a hospital.

The accident occurred at about 10 p.m. Friday, just north of Chimney Rock Road near Nacimiento Lake Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle went down the embankment and was not visible from the roadway, officials said.

Cal Fire and CHP rescuers were dispatched to the scene at about 11:05 a.m. Saturday and extricated the vehicle’s occupant about two hours later. The victim was transported to a local hospital.

No further information about the accident or the condition of the occupant was available Saturday.
