Tortoise found by Grover Beach police quickly reunited with family
UPDATE: The tortoise, named Kennedy, has been reunited with his family, Grover Beach police announced on their Facebook page Tuesday night.
“Thank you to everyone for helping to spread the word which resulted in the owners being reunited with Kennedy,” read the post.
ORIGINAL STORY: A tortoise was found ambling through Grover Beach on Tuesday morning, but it was quickly captured by Grover Beach police.
According to a post on the Grover Beach Police Department’s Facebook page, the tortoise was found walking the streets of north Grover Beach, and police officers were called out to catch the reptilian jaywalker.
“At this point the Tortoise, though in custody, is being well cared for,” read the joke-filled post. “Oh and we did not find the hare, too elusive apparently.”
At the time of its capture, police did not know whether the tortoise was male or female. They are now looking for its owner, if it has one. Anyone with information is asked to call the department at 473-4511.
