Man arrested in Paso Robles after car chase on Highway 101

A man from Elk Grove, near Sacramento, was arrested in Paso Robles on Sunday evening after allegedly leading officers on a 15-mile car chase on Highway 101, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office.

A sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation at 4:06 p.m., the news release said. The driver of the vehicle, identified by police as 31-year-old Marco Emanuel Flores, allegedly failed to stop and continued driving at speeds varying between 35 and 95 mph, with an average speed of 65 to 70 mph.

Flores allegedly drove recklessly at times to avoid arrest. The pursuit covered about 15 miles mainly along both southbound and northbound Highway 101, according to the news release.

The driver stopped his car near Spring Street on northbound Highway 101 in Paso Robles, where he attempted to flee on foot before falling, the news release said. Flores was taken into custody without a struggle, police said.

He allegedly has an active misdemeanor arrest warrant out of Solano County and a suspended driver’s license.

Flores was arrested on the outstanding arrest warrant, as well as on suspicion of driving on a suspended license, reckless driving and felony evading of a police officer in a motor vehicle, according to the news release.

Flores was to be booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail, the news release said.
