Prado opens overnight warming center in SLO

The Prado Day Center will open an overnight warming center on Sunday because rain is forecast.

Prado Day Center is at 43 Prado Road in San Luis Obispo.

Check-in starts at 4:45 p.m. but people needing shelter may arrive any time during the evening. Pets are allowed andd smoking is allowed in a designated smoking area. Prado is a sobriety-based facility. Warming center guests will be provided with a hot meal and a sleeping bag, as available.

The warming center closes at 8 a.m. Monday but clients may stay at the facility to access the center’s services.

The center is also seeking donations of large trash bags; disposableplates, bowls, cups and utensils; coffee, tea, creamer and sugar; large backpacks and sleeping bags; new socks; rain gear, ponchos and umbrellas. Donations can be dropped off at the center.
