‘Love SLO’ community service day seeks volunteers
A new communitywide day of service, called Love SLO, will be launched in San Luis Obispo on Saturday.
More than 30 service projects have been created, with more than 850 volunteer spots. Anyone interested in participating can go to www.loveslo.com to register to volunteer for specific service projects.
There are still spots available for numerous projects: yard work at the Maxine Lewis Memorial Shelter or Prado Day Center, giving haircuts to the homeless, cleaning up Bishop’s Peak Elementary, writing notes of support to service men and women from the area, hands-only CPR training, or harvesting a to-be-determined crop in Arroyo Grande for GleanSLO, among others.
The day of service will kick off with an 8 a.m. rally in Mission Plaza before volunteers and project leaders disperse to designated locations to complete service projects from 9 a.m. to noon, according to a news release from event organizers.
Local businesses, schools, community organizations and churches are encouraged to get involved by building service teams.
