Arroyo Grande is without Starbucks for two days
Coffee-addicted Starbucks fans are in for a tough time in Arroyo Grande: By a twist of fate, both of the city’s Starbucks locations are temporarily closed this week.
Customers who showed up Tuesday at the Starbucks at 924 W. Branch St., next to the Regal Arroyo Grande Stadium 10 movie theater, were halted in their quest for caffeine by orange plastic cones and fencing. Banners hanging above the coffee shop declared, “Closed for renovation.”
The outlet is closed while the company makes some minor upgrades to the interior and the outside patio to prepare for its new Evenings menu, which includes more food offerings, as well as wine and beer. Exactly when the coffee shop will reopen is unclear; calls to Starbucks representatives were not returned Tuesday.
Down the road, the Starbucks at Grand Avenue and Courtland Street has closed permanently and is moving into a new drive-through location at Grand Avenue and Elm Street. According to a sign on the door, the Courtland Street Starbucks closed early Monday, and its inventory is being moved to the Elm Street location. The new store at 1211 E. Grand Ave. is scheduled to open at 5 a.m. Thursday.
In the meantime, Starbucks customers will have a chance to try something new and check out the other Arroyo Grande coffee shops to get their caffeine fix.
