Warming centers open in Arroyo Grande, San Luis Obispo
Volunteers with the 5 Cities Homeless Coalition will host an overnight warming center Friday night through Monday morning for those needing shelter from storms. The warming station at the Prado Day Center in San Luis Obispo also will be open Friday through Monday nights.
The Homeless Coalition’s warming center will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. at the Department of Social Services office at 1086 Grand Ave. in Arroyo Grande. Guests will have a dry place to sleep and a hot meal. Sleeping bags and mats will be provided as available. Sobriety is not a condition for entry, but no drugs or alcohol are permitted. Once at the shelter, guests will not be permitted to return if they leave. Pets and smoking are not allowed.
Transportation to the warming center will be available through Ride-On Transportation from the Grover Beach train station at 5 p.m., Pismo Beach Premium Outlets’ bus stop at 5:05 p.m. and the Arroyo Grande Community Library at 5:15 p.m. Ride-on will also provide drop-offs from the warming center to those sites Sunday morning.

In San Luis Obispo, those needing shelter can check in at 43 Prado Road starting at 4:45 p.m. Pets are allowed and smoking is allowed in designated areas; Prado is a sobriety-based facility. A hot meal will be provided; sleeping bags will be provided as available. The warming center closes at 8 a.m., but clients may stay to access the Prado Day Center services at 8:30 a.m.
