Los Osos Valley Road construction nearly finished
After about 16 months of construction and traffic delays, work on the Los Osos Valley Road widening project over Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo has moved into its final stage.
Drivers can expect to travel on all four lanes of Los Osos Valley Road between South Higuera Street and Calle Joaquin starting Friday.
In addition, the southbound Highway 101 off-ramp to Los Osos Valley Road will reopen Thursday night, ending the detour from the freeway onto Calle Joaquin, San Luis Obispo project manager Kyle Rowland said.
“This is the final push,” Rowland said. “If there’s no weather delays I think we’ll be done here in just a couple of weeks.”
The city’s contractor, Granite Construction, anticipates finishing paving part of the eastbound side of Los Osos Valley Road on Wednesday.
Some additional paving could still lead to some traffic delays, Rowland said. Calle Joaquin, which experienced some wear and tear from an increase in traffic during the project, also will get a new overlay of asphalt.
A ribbon cutting is scheduled for March 29. For more information, go to http://www.lovr101.org/.
