SLO women’s singing group welcomes new executive director
Canzona Women’s Ensemble has a new executive director.
Erin McCall, 46, will take over leadership of the all-female vocal ensemble co-founded by artistic directors Cricket Handler and Jill Anderson. She replaces Pat Harris, who had served as executive director since the nonprofit group’s inception in 2010.
An Atascadero resident who holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Cal State Fullerton, McCall was the administrative manager of the Central Coast Children’s Choir for more than eight years. She left in 2014 to work for a marketing and public relations firm in Paso Robles.
McCall said she’ll use her background to help Canzona grow its audience.
“To experience women’s voices raised in song is a powerful thing,” she said in a news release.
Canzona Women’s Ensemble will perform with Brillante String Quartet on Saturday at Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. A portion of proceeds from the concert, “Beginning Again,” will benefit the nonprofit organization 40Prado, which aims to help the homeless population of San Luis Obispo County.
