Morro Bay house fire causes extensive damages
A fire in the front portion of a Morro Bay home Saturday caused about $150,000 in damages, according to a news release from the City of Morro Bay.
Firefighters responded to the 700 block of Center Court after receiving reports of the fire about 3:42 p.m.
The homeowners, a husband and wife, were in the house when the fire broke out. The 87-year-old woman received advanced life support and was taken to the hospital, according to the news release.
Firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the front portion of the home, and nearby homes were unharmed despite close proximity, the news release said.
The fire caused extensive heat and smoke damage throughout the entire house, said fire Capt. Michael Talmadge of the Morro Bay Fire Department.
Six fire engines responded to the fire — four from Los Osos Station No. 15, two from Morro Bay, as well as additional Cal Fire support, according to the news release.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and appeared accidental, Talmadge said.
