Motorcyclist suffers major injuries in crash near Templeton

A Paso Robles motorcyclist suffered major injuries Friday night when he allegedly sideswiped a Jeep on Creston Road just east of Templeton.

Tim William Kerels, 37, of Paso Robles was riding a 2006 Harley-Davidson east on Creston Road, just west of Neal Spring Road, at about 8:10 p.m. when witnesses said he passed their car and then sideswiped an oncoming Jeep Cherokee while still in the middle of the roadway, according to CHP Officer Patrick Seebart.

The Creston woman driving the Jeep was not injured, Seebart said.

Kerels suffered major injuries to his left foot and leg, and he was flown to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, Seebart said. Kerels was driving at a high rate of speed, and alcohol appeared to play a role in the crash, he said.
