Man fatally struck by car in Grover Beach is identified

A Grover Beach man was killed when he was struck by a car while crossing a city street Monday night.

The Grover Beach Police Department identified the man Tuesday afternoon as 48-year-old Christopher Dale Hall. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hall, who was using a walker, was crossing near North Fourth Street and Brighton Avenue at about 9 p.m. when he was hit, according to Sgt. Sonny Gerber. The driver of the car remained at the scene afterward, Gerber said, and cooperated with police. Roads in the area were closed until 1 a.m. as police investigated.

Late Tuesday afternoon, Grover Beach Cmdr. Tim Miller said that neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to have played a role in the incident but that the investigation was ongoing.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call Sgt. Roy Ituralde at 473-4511.
