Grover Beach city manager to retire
Grover Beach City Manager Bob Perrault will retire March 1, wrapping up almost a decade with the city, according to a news release.
“I am looking forward to spending some quality time in retirement with my wife, Debbie, adult children, and grandson, who all live locally,” Perrault said in the city news release.
Perrault has served as city manager in Grover Beach since June 2006. Before that, he had a 31-year career in city management with the county of Ventura and the cities of Simi Valley, Healdsburg, Cloverdale and Colfax. Twenty-six of those years were spent as a city manager, according to the news release.
Perrault’s last physical day on the job will be Feb. 16, after which he will be on vacation for two weeks, according to the report.
“I am leaving Grover Beach and the profession with mixed emotions,” Perrault said in the news release, citing as some of his biggest achievements his work on improving the city’s infrastructure, the adoption of the city’s first economic development strategy, and the successful Measure K-14 — which authorized the sale of up to $48 million in general obligation bonds to be used to pay for the city’s long-awaited street-repair program.
The City Council will host a brief reception for Perrault during its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 16.
Former police chief and assistant city manager Jim Copsey will serve as interim city manager until a full-time replacement for Perrault can be found. The recruitment process is expected to be completed in April.
