Five Cities opening overnight warming center Saturday
Volunteers with the 5 Cities Homeless Coalition will host an overnight warming center Saturday night through Sunday morning, for those needing shelter from storms.
The warming center will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., at the Department of Social Services office at 1086 Grand Ave. in Arroyo Grande. Guests will have a dry place to sleep and a hot meal. Sleeping bags and mats will be provided as available.
Sobriety is not a condition for entry, but no drugs and alcohol are permitted. Once at the shelter, guests will not be permitted to return if they leave. Pets and smoking are not allowed.
Transportation to the warming center will be available through Ride-On Transportation from the Grover Beach train station at 5 p.m., Pismo Beach Outlets’ bus stop at 5:05 p.m. and the Arroyo Grande Community Library at 5:15 p.m. Ride-on will also provide drop offs from the warming center to those sites Sunday morning.
