San Luis Obispo’s Sinsheimer pool is scheduled to reopen Monday after being closed several months for replastering and repairs.
City staff said the worn, rough plaster on the Olympic-size pool at the SLO Swim Center at 902 Southwood Drive, near Sinsheimer Park, needed to be replaced for health and safety reasons.
The pool was closed Sept. 7, though the therapy pool remained open for most of that time. Hundreds of swimmers, including high school athletes, had to train elsewhere during the closure.
The pool will reopen with free swim during lap swimming hours on Jan. 18 and 19.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 8, with refreshments provided.
