SLO Transit to pass out ponchos on rainy days

With significant storms expected this winter, San Luis Obispo’s Transit Division plans to distribute SLO Transit-branded rain ponchos to passengers boarding buses on select rainy days.

“The rain ponchos are intended to help keep our passengers dry as they travel on SLO Transit during rainy days,” transit manager Gamaliel Anguiano said in a news release. “We hope this will make their commute just a little bit easier.”

The ponchos will come with a reusable plastic pouch so passengers can store them for the next rainy day. Passengers are encouraged to post photos on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and tag SLO Transit.

SLO Transit operates out of the city’s Public Works Department and runs up to 10 vehicles along eight fixed routes within San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly. It operates Monday through Friday from about 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
