Grover Beach announces Holiday of Lights business winners

Six Grover Beach businesses won recognition in the city’s 2015 Businesses Holiday of Lights Decorating Contest.

The Grover Beach Parks, Recreation and Beautification Commission and Parks & Recreation Department announced the following winners: Shell Beach Floral Design at 260 W. Grand Ave. won best overall business display. Chevron Extra Mile at 1284 W. Grand Ave. won second place and La Real Michoacana Ice Cream Shop at 1554 W. Grand Ave. won third place.

Honorable mentions went to: Proud Pooch at 1123 W. Grand Ave., Velocity Tint at 1351 W. Grand Ave. and Automotive Service Center at 583 W. Grand Ave.

The commission will canvas the city on Saturday and Sunday, seeking residential homes for final judging on Thursday between 5:30 and 9 p.m. Categories are: Commissioner’s Award – Best Use of Lights, City Council Award – Best Original Use of Animation and the Mayor’s Award – Best Overall in Originality.

Winners are invited to the Jan. 19 City Council. Maps to all the addresses will be available after Dec. 17 on the Grover Beach website.
