Ashes spark shed fire that threatened Cambria business
Hot ashes left in a shed sparked a structure fire at a Cambria business early Wednesday that caused as much as $30,000 in damage.
Cal Fire said it responded to a house fire on the 700 block of Main Street about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, firefighters found a shed and a hot tub on fire on the second-floor deck of the building. The building housed aromatherapy business Exotic Nature on the ground floor and a residence on the second floor.
According to Cal Fire, the fire spread from the deck into the ground floor ceiling and the second floor exterior wall.
The fire was extinguished, but the hot tub and shed were destroyed. Damage was estimated to be between $20,000 and $30,000. No injuries were reported, and the two commercial structures attached to the building were untouched by the fire.
Hot ashes stored in the shed on the second floor deck are what caused the fire, investigators said.
