Roadwork starts Tuesday on Highway 227 near SLO County airport

Drivers on Highway 227 will encounter lane closures as Caltrans begins a project to resurface the highway from Price Canyon Road to a half-mile north of Buckley Road near the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport.

The work is expected to start Tuesday, weather permitting, according to a news release from Caltrans. The $1.3 million project is expected to wrap up in spring 2016.

Motorists will encounter lane closures in both directions on Highway 227 (also known as Broad Street) from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Fridays. Road work also will take place overnight from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

The contractor is CalPortland Co. out of Santa Maria.
