A Paso Robles man was killed Sunday night after his vehicle left the roadway on Airport Road in Paso Robles and struck an oak tree, officials say.
Mark Steven Portney, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene.
At about 8:44 p.m., Paso Robles police and fire personnel responded to a report of a fatal single-vehicle crash on Airport Road just north of Highway 46 East, according to a Police Department news release.
Emergency personnel located Portney, who was confirmed dead.

The investigation is ongoing, but officials say the vehicle driven by Portney left the roadway for unknown reasons. Drugs or alcohol are not thought to have been a factor in the crash. The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an autopsy, according to the news release.
