Women’s Shelter Program seeks volunteers to become domestic violence crisis counselors
The Women’s Shelter Program of San Luis Obispo County will host a 40-hour state-certified training in December for volunteers interested in becoming certified domestic violence crisis peer counselors.
The training, which starts Dec. 8, will prepare volunteers to answer crisis phone lines, with shifts available for evenings and weekends, according to a news release from the organization.
The training will give volunteers the opportunity to better understand the cycle of abuse, help others safety plan, and learn about valuable resources in the community.
To join the training, fill out an application online (click on “get involved” and then select “volunteer”). Potential volunteers must be interviewed by Dec. 4 to join the training.
