Arroyo Grande to host 38th Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run

The Arroyo Grande Recreation Services department and the Arroyo Grande Lions Club will sponsor the 38th Annual Turkey Trot Fun Run on Sunday.

The race will be held at the Arroyo Grande High School track, at 495 Valley Road, according to a city news release.

Divisions will be broken up as follows: preschool and younger  1/8 mile, kindergarten  1/8 mile, first grade ¼ mile, second grade ¼ mile, third grade ½ mile, fourth grade ½ mile, fifth grade ¾ mile, sixth grade ¾ mile, and seventh and eighth grade 1 mile. Girls and boys will race separately.

First place will receive a turkey, second place a chicken and third place a Cornish game hen, according to the release. There will also be raffle prizes donated by local businesses.

Registration will take place from 1 to 1:45 p.m. with the first run at 2 p.m. There is no charge for race participation.

If it rains on that date, the run will be rescheduled to Dec. 6, according to the news release.
