SLO named a Gold Level Bike Friendly Community
San Luis Obispo was awarded Gold Level Bike Friendly Community status Monday by the League of American Bicyclists.
The city, previously designated as a Silver Level Bike Friendly Community, joined three other Gold Level cities in California.
California has 55 Bike Friendly Communities, four of which are in San Luis Obispo County. The cities of Paso Robles, Arroyo Grande and Morro Bay are all designated Bronze Level.
A Bike Friendly Community welcomes bicyclists by providing safe accommodations for bicycling and encouraging people to bike for transportation and recreation, according to a press release.
