The Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County hosted a groundbreaking ceremony Monday for its new central facility in San Luis Obispo. The organization will consolidate its current North and South County warehouses into one location on Kendall Road in San Luis Obispo.
The building will be designed to suit the Food Bank’s operational needs and will include loading docks, increased storage space and refrigeration capabilities for fresh produce, according to a news release.
The Food Bank expects significant cost savings in overhead expenses to occur with the consolidation, which will allow it to provide additional food, according to a release. The facility is expected to be completed by summer 2016.
