Police search for armed robbery suspect in Shell Beach

Pismo Beach police are looking for a man they say stole a woman's purse at gunpoint in Shell Beach Saturday night.

At about 10:30 p.m., a woman was getting out of her vehicle in the 300 block of Montecito Avenue when she was approached by a man carrying a black handgun, who grabbed her purse, Sgt. Kyle White said Monday.

White said the man did not say anything during the robbery and fled the area on foot in an unknown direction.

Police describe the man as a Hispanic adult approximately 5 foot 8 inches tall with a stocky build wearing a black hoodie and dark jeans. White said he is possibly associated with a suspicious white sedan that was seen in the area before the incident.

Pismo Beach detectives are investigating the case, but are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the department's Investigations Unit at 773-3505.
