Warning signs posted after shark sighting in Morro Bay

Signs were posted across Morro Bay beaches Sunday warning beachgoers about a recent shark sighting.

About 10:30 a.m., California State Parks received a report from a surfer who said he saw what he believed to be a great white shark around 8 or 9 feet long swimming in the waters at a beach access point located west of Atascadero Road in Morro Bay, said Supervising State Park Peace Officer Robert Colligan.

Although the beach remained open, signs were posted warning beachgoers of the shark sighting and rangers are giving verbal advisories, Colligan said.
