Cal Fire plans to burn about 300 acres of private ranch land outside Pozo on Friday to remove overgrown vegetation.
Residents in the La Panza and California Valley area as well as motorists travelling Highway 58 and Pozo Road may see smoke from the property about nine miles northeast of Pozo and 12 miles northwest of California Valley.
Traffic along Pozo Road between three and five miles southwest of Highway 58 may be delayed when crews burn an area adjacent to the roadway. Ten Cal Fire and U.S. Forest Service engines, four hand crews, two bulldozers and a helicopter will be working in the area.
The prescribed burn is part of Cal Fire’s Vegetation Management Program to reduce vegetation in areas with a high risk of wildfires as well as improve range quality for livestock and wildlife.
