The Dana Adobe Nipomo Amigos has changed its name to The DANA Cultural Center to reflect the organization's growth beyond serving as stewards for the Dana Adobe in Nipomo.
In the 16 years since it was founded, the organization has grown beyond just managing the historic 130 acres that were once home to Capt. William Goodwin Dana, according to a news release. The group offers tours of the Dana Adobe and its grounds, as well as the Chumash Interpretive Area, and is planning to add numerous exhibits and displays to explain the area's history.
As part of the name change, the group has also released a new logo and mission statement and plans to build a visitors center on the land.
The DANA Cultural Center will hold a free talk at the Adobe on March 21 at 2 p.m. to explain the changes.
