Emergency personnel take an injured person to a helicopter to be transported to the hospital after a rollover accident on Highway 1 north of Cayucos on Saturday afternoon.

Two passengers who suffered major injuries in a rollover crash that killed a 3-year-old and a 17-year-old boy Oct. 25 have been released from the hospital, according to a hospital spokesman.

Wendy Brito, 19, was released from Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center on Monday, according to Ron Yukelson, spokesman for the hospital. She was originally admitted in critical condition.

Her brother, Michael Brito, 23, was released late last week, Yukelson confirmed.

Both are Los Osos residents.

The solo crash occurred on Highway 1 near Cayucos after the driver, who allegedly later told police he was under the influence of the synthetic drug known as "spice," ran off the road causing the SUV to flip, according to the CHP. Wendi Brito, as well as 22-month-old Mason Simmons-Gibson and Simon Brito, 17, were thrown from the vehicle. Simmons-Gibson and Simon Brito died at the scene.

The driver, Tanner Mengore, 22, was arrested and is being charged with driving under the influence resulting in death. As of Thursday, he was no longer in custody, according to jail records.
