Scholarship fund set up for children of bicyclist killed in SLO
A scholarship fund has been set up for the children of Dr. Damian Horstman, who died Wednesday after he collided with a semi-truck while riding his bicycle at South Higuera Street and Ontario Road.
Horstman is survived by his wife, Jennifer, of Pismo Beach, and two sons, ages 4 and 2 years old. The 39-year-old physician at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center died at the hospital after the 8 a.m. crash.
Horstman, who joined the Sierra Vista medical staff in 2008, served the past two years as vice chief of staff and as chair of the anesthesia department.
Donations can be made either by check or in person at any Founders Community Bank branch. Checks should be made payable to the “Damian Horstman Memorial Fund” and can be sent to Founders Community Bank, 863 Marsh St., San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.
Memorial services are still pending.
