2012 California Mid-State Fair lineup announced

Classic rock band Journey, country star Brad Paisley and pop group Big Time Rush are among the acts coming to the California Mid-State Fair this summer, fair officials announced Friday.

Journey, best known for the hit songs “Any Way You Want It,” “Don’t Stop Believin’ ” and “Open Arms,” will perform July 24 at the fair’s Main Grandstand Arena. The band previously played at the fair in 2005 and 2009.

Another returning act is Grammy Award-winning country singer Brad Paisley, who will perform July 25. His hits include “We Danced,” “Letter to Me” and “Waitin’ on a Woman.”

Popular Nickelodeon boy band Big Time Rush, which opened for Selena Gomez & The Scene at last year’s fair, will take center stage July 23. Up-and-coming pop star Cody Simpson will open for the group. Big Time Rush also appeared at North County Christian School last November after a student won an online contest.

Grammy-winning R&B group Earth, Wind & Fire will perform July 27 at the fair’s “An Evening of Music & Wine” event.

Fair officials also announced two free Frontier Stage acts: Christian rock band Kutless, which will perform July 22, and Chicano power rock trio Los Lonely Boys, who will perform July 24.

Ticket prices and sale dates for all acts have yet to be announced.

The California Mid-State Fair is set for July 18 through July 29 in Paso Robles.
