UPDATE 3 p.m.: San Luis Obispo police have now released video from the surveillance camera that captured the dye pack exploding in a bag of money the Geezer Bandit reportedly robbed from the downtown San Luis Obispo Bank of America branch Dec. 2.

Original story: San Luis Obispo police have released an image taken from surveillance video of a dye pack exploding just after a bank robbery in hopes that it would lead witnesses to come forward.

“They were close when the dye pack employed,” San Luis Obispo Police Department Det. Eric Vitale said.

The Bank of America branch in downtown San Luis Obispo was robbed by the so-called Geezer Bandit on Dec. 2.

Authorities believe he has robbed 16 banks, including one in Morro Bay and others in San Diego County.
