North Coast restaurateur Hoppe, 54, dies
Restaurateur Bill Hoppe, 54, of Morro Bay, died Monday, Nov. 22, at his home. He had been ill for some time.
The often crusty Hoppe, known for his cutting-edge cuisine, skillful saucing and masterful plating, had for years owned Hoppe’s Garden Bistro & Wine Shop in Cayucos.
Hoppe formerly owned and operated Hoppe’s Hip Pocket Bistro on Morro Bay’s Embarcadero and had been chef and one of the partners who launched another Embarcadero restaurant, Hoppe's at Marina Square, which is now Windows on the Water. Service arrangements are pending at Benedict-Rettey Funeral Home in Morro Bay.
