Oceano Dunes, Madonna Inn featured in next week's episode of 'The Bachelor'

The Oceano Dunes and the Madonna Inn are in next week's episode of "The Bachelor," an ABC network reality series now in its 14th season.

Snippets of the local venues, including an RV full of women driving on the sand, were seen Monday in a preview for the January 25 episode.

In early October, the show's production crews contacted the San Luis Obispo County Film Commission regarding local filming options, film commissioner Dave Kastner said. The commission and crew then brainstormed places to visit and toured the area.

Producers were looking for a beach location and winery, Kastner added.

"They were very interested in the Oceano Dunes since it is a drivable beach and they wanted a place where they could park an RV," he said.

The current season, "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love," began with a selection of 25 women and features pilot Jake Pavelka, 31, of Texas. It first aired Jan. 4.

On the Jan. 25 show, Pavelka surprises the nine remaining women with a road trip up the picturesque California coast, according to ABC.

The winery featured is in Santa Ynez, according to ABC, but the Oceano Dunes appears in their trip for beach camping and dune rides as does the Madonna Inn, described as being "famous for its outrageous décor." The group then travels on to Big Sur.

"The Bachelor" is based on the premise that one man will find a wife among 25 female contestants. In each show, he chooses which women stay until the final episode where he's to pick between the final two. He then potentially asks one to marry him.

The beginning episodes are based at a Southern California mansion. As the show progresses, contestants travel to other venues.

Sea World in San Diego and Universal City Walk in Universal City are among the other venues featured so far this season.
