Pride, Juneteenth and summer solstice: Find June events in SLO County
With a number of holidays and special occasions in June, San Luis Obispo County is set to host multiple events for all ages
June is Pride Month, a monthlong celebration that recognizes the impact of LGBTQ+ communities around the nation.
Juneteenth, celebrated annually on June 19, commemorates the day that more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in Texas officially learned of their freedom in 1865, according to the National Museum of African American History & Culture.
Locals will also celebrate the official start of summer, the summer solstice.
The June solstice marks the longest day of the year as the sun is at its highest point in the sky.
