Acclaimed Queen tribute band is coming to SLO County. How to see Killer Queen
An internationally acclaimed tribute to Queen is coming to San Luis Obispo County this October.
Killer Queen, the tribute band to Queen, is set to perform at the Vina Robles Amphitheatre, bringing the band’s iconic tracks on Oct. 4.
The band first started performing at London University, where the real Queen played its first shows decades earlier, according to a news release from Nederlander Concerts.
“It’s been an amazing journey,” lead singer Patrick Myers said in the release. “That first show changed my life. We thought our band would last maybe a summer at most but it’s a very addictive thing performing these songs.”
Myers performs as Freddie Mercury in Killer Queen, and increased popularity in the UK led the band to secure a residency in London’s Strand Theatre. Killer Queen was the first tribute band to have a show in the West End, the release said.
Killer Queen also created a number one hit when they recreated Queen’s harmonies for “The Real Life” with Fatboy Slim and also won an award for “Worldwide Best Tribute Band” in Leicester Square.
The tribute headed to the United States and sold out the Red Rocks Arena in Colorado, and now have a three-month-long tour in America, the release said.
Tickets for Killer Queen at Vina Robles Amphitheatre go on sale for general admission this Friday at 10 a.m. on Ticketmaster.
