Search continues for SLO County man missing at Pirate’s Cove

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to search for an Arroyo Grande man who is believed to have gone missing near Pirate’s Cove.

Gary Keihl is 72 years old and was reported missing to the Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday when Keihl did not arrive at the Grover Beach train station to pick someone up as planned, according to the Sheriff’s Office news release.

His vehicle was later discovered unoccupied in the Cave Landing parking lot near Avila Beach.

The sheriff’s search and rescue team, Coast Guard, Harbor Patrol, California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and Cal Fire searched the area for two days, but Keihl was not located.

Investigators continued to follow up on leads and speak with witnesses who may have seen Keihl before his disappearance, the release said.
