Hwy. 101 lanes to close in both directions in SLO County. Here’s where and when
Drivers will encounter overnight lane closures on a busy stretch of Highway 101 due to constructions, according to Caltrans.
“This project will rehabilitate pavement, improve drainage systems, enhance highway worker safety and designate bikeways with pavement delineation,” the California Department of Transportation said in a news release on Monday, May 11.
Here’s when and where roadwork will take place:
Where are Highway 101 lanes closing?
Drivers on Highway 101 will experience alternating lane closures in both directions between Pismo Beach and Arroyo Grande, according to Caltrans.
“These lane closures are necessary ... to adjust temporary barriers and delineation” for the “ongoing paving and enhancement project,” the state roads agency said.
When is construction near Pismo Beach?
Crews with contractor Granite Construction of Santa Maria started work on Sunday, April 10.
They’ll work nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Friday, May 15.
“One lane in both directions of US 101 will always remain open during these overnight lane closures,” Caltrans said.
Caltrans said drivers should “exercise caution” when traveling through the roadwork area, since there’s a difference in pavement height between “adjacent travel lanes in the work zones,”
