Popular yacht rock group is coming back to SLO County. How to score tickets
SoCal’s top soft rock band is coming to San Luis Obispo County late this summer, and tickets are going on sale this week.
Yachtley Crew, the nautical-themed soft rock band known for sporting captain’s hats during their shows, will perform at Vina Robles Amphitheatre on Friday, Sept. 4, according to a news release from Nederlander Concerts.
The band played a part in the revival of soft rock and Top 40 hits from the late ‘70s and early ‘80s starting in 2017, and will feature new lead vocalist Ian Ward in the second leg of the 2026 Seas The Night Tour, according to the release.
Yachtley Crew’s lineup includes drummer Rob Jones as Sailor Hawkins, bassist Chaz Ruiz as Baba Buoy, guitarist Thomas Gardner Jr. as Tommy Buoy, backing vocalist Curt Clendenin as Stoney Shores, saxophone/flutist Paul Pate as Pauly Shores, keyboardist Matt Grossman as Matthew McDonald and new lead vocalist Ian Ward as Captain Ian.
Ward recently starred on Broadway in productions including “Rock Of Ages,” “Rent,” “American Idiot” and “Footloose,” as well as “Jesus Christ Superstar” at The Hollywood Bowl alongside Cynthia Erivo and Adam Lambert, according to the release.
Most recently, the “Titans Of Soft Rock” released their first EP “Seas The Day” in 2023 which featured coves of fan favorites such as Boz Scaggs’ “Lido Shuffle,” Ace’s “How Long,” Robbie Dupree’s “Steal Away,” the Bee Gees’ “How Deep Is Your Love,” Christopher Cross’ “Ride Like the Wind” and the band’s first original song “Sex On The Beach,” according to the release.
Tickets will go on sale for the general public on Friday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.
